Workshop/Assembly Summary:
Dramatis is a Sussex based, extra-curricular drama school that harnesses the power of Pretend Play.
Stage stardom is not our end game. We recognise that not all children want to be in the spotlight – but do enjoy playing at being someone, something or somewhere else.
We empower children's innate instinct to play by using drama games and exercises that turn their creative ideas into more structured stories. Rather than follow a set script, our pupils take great pride in devising their own unique performances. This creative process also helps children develop cognitive, emotional and social skills (whilst having a lot of fun!)
In today’s increasingly stressful, polarized and tech-dominated world, we’re concerned about the mental wellbeing of children. As a society, we’re still assessing the long-term impact of Covid – but research suggests the disturbance to learning has undermined children’s confidence, sense-of-self, and their emotional wellbeing.
By harnessing the power of Pretend Play, we help build more confident, resilient, and empathetic young people so they can go out and thrive in the world!
Dramatis School Workshops use drama games and exercises to bring educational topics to life in a fun and engaging way. By harnessing the power of pretend play, our workshops can help develop children's cognitive, emotional and social skills. Workshops can be tailored to topics that pupils are working on in class including cultures, traditions and historical events. They are fully supervised, allowing teachers their PPA time.
Testimonials:
“Suzy worked with an enthusiastic group of children aged between 9 – 11. She was keen to involve them in the script-writing process as well as developing their dramatic expression. The children were able to improvise and the script was developed with their interests in mind. Suzy has a natural rapport with young people and I would recommend her as a drama teacher.”

”Thank you for all your hard work. Our young people loved the whole process and were really involved in it all. As you know, one of the girls started off very wobbly, not wanting to do it, so to see her at the end, performing and full of confidence was lovely!”
