Workshop Summary:
Visiting sculpture workshops for individual and class projects.
• A practical workshop creating sculptures from finger friendly plastic coated chickenwire sheets
• Producing 3D sculptures by cutting shapes and connecting the pieces together
• The workshops and craft links to the curriculum by the use of materials to sculpt to develop and share ideas, experiences and imagination. To develop a wide range of art and design techniques and use a range of tools and equipment to perform practical tasks [for example, cutting, shaping, joining and finishing].
• The workshops actively involve children and offer an exciting, inspiring, engaging, positive and inclusive experience. This all helps with pupils confidence and helps enable personal progression.
• The workshops are £325 per day, material costs are £1.00 per pupil. Some travel costs maybe incurred. Enhanced D&BS certified.
• CPD sessions for staff are also available.
• All tools & materials are provided. Schools generally provide tissue paper to decorate sculptures.
Additional Information
For KS1 pupils I offer what I refer to as a tissue paper tapestry. This is in essence a tissue paper collage and allows more pupils to participate. The workshop consists of length of larger scale plastic coated chickenwire 90cm high and as long as required, within which the younger pupils could weave tissue paper to create an image as theme dictates with bas-relief like additions if required. The workshops encourages working together, use of colours as well as the dexterity to weave and create the tapestry.
Workshops in KS2 & KS3 aim for each pupil to make their own sculpture following templates provided by the artist which can be used in school displays and then be taken home and kept by the pupils. Workshops can be held in classrooms, larger rooms such as halls are welcome as they allow work to be spread out.
Up to 3 class size workshops can be held in a day allowing a large number of participants to be included.
Larger projects can be arranged and any theme that the schools would like can be discussed.
KS4 & 5 workshops are more complex and challenging and encourage pupils to create their own work.
